First piercings - help??

Hey y'all, I have 0 experience with piercings / tattoos or anything to do with shops one might go to for bodymods.

I've been thinking about getting a nose piercing for a while (septum), but I don't know where to go or what to look out for in a piercing/tattoo shop.
What are the red flags?
What are things I have to keep in mind?
And maybe, any blogs or videos with information for first-time piercing getters you might recommend?

I know this was posted months ago but I thought I'd reply anyway in case it still helps. I have 10 piercings and 8 tattoos. I think the biggest red flag for piercings is if they use a piercing gun, these can be really bad especially for like nose piercings. A big tattoo red flag is pricing I think. They're not cheap so if someone is offering tattoos that seem really cheap, they're probably not the best. The best thing to do is tons of research, read reviews of the shops and look at images of their work :)
