YOUR BAG IS EMPTY.
I recently learned this is called a vagal maneuver and it's actually a medical thing first responders recommend to you if you're having a panic attack, but I've been inadvertently doing this for years and it always seems to help me when I'm in a state of panic, anxiety or anxiety-induced insomnia. So, why not share it with you! :)
If your heart is racing, fold your hands together tightly, bring your hands hands closer to your chest and lift both your thumbs up towards your chin. Now inhale deeply, put your mouth on top of your thumbs and blow the air out hard until your lungs are empty and you can't go on.
This should stimulate the vagus nerve, which causes your heart to reset its rhythm, like a pacemaker. You can do this with any other object too, for example, by using a straw instead of your thumbs - the main goal is to just have a hard time blowing out the air.
Sometimes, it may require that you this a few times before your heart rhythm evens itself out. For me though, it does eventually help after a few tries and makes me feel calmer because my heart is always racing during a panic/anxiety attack.
I hope it helps! :)
